Anime Expo has announced Daisuke Ishiwatari as the first Guest of Honor for the event happening this July 2nd-5th at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Daisuke Ishiwatari is a game creator over at Arc System Works who is known as the "Father" of the Guilty Gear franchise, General Director, and even musician contributing a huge amount of music composition for the series' soundtracks as well. He even handles character design, game development, and had major participation with Guilty Gear sister series, BlazBlue alongside friend Toshimichi Mori.
Most recently Guilty Gear made a massive comeback after being absent since the PS2 era with the release of “Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-”. The new game has been receiving a plethora of praise since it's release at the end of last year for Daisuke Ishiwatari's innovations in the fighting game genre and mechanics.
He's said to be holding a Q&A panel and will be signing autographs as well this summer at Anime Expo. As usual I look forward to bringing you coverage of Ishiwatari-san's work! I personally haven't seen him in about 5 years after meeting him and Mori-san at FanimeCon 2010.
