Boys Over Flowers by Yoko Kamiya (who also made Hana Yori Dango), has been officially certified as the Most Published shojo genre manga with about 59.4 million copies printed and circulated as of November 2022.
Boys Over Flowers follows a 16-year old girl named Tsukushi Makino who joins the pretsigious Eitoku Academy. Tsukushi, who comes from a middle-class family, gets hilariously acquainted with the school's top male students- though she winds up on their bad side for a while. The story has its ups and downs as a drama, rom-com, and record setting, highly revered shojo series.
Debuting in the 90's, the story has been adapted several times into an anime, several live-action adaptations, and even a musical.
