The highly anticipated The Rose of Versailles movie, focusing on the character Oscar, is set to debut in Japanese theaters on January 31. A new trailer has been released alongside updates to the star-studded cast.
Key roles include Miyuki Sawashiro as Oscar François de Jarjayes, Aya Hirano as Marie Antoinette, and Toshiyuki Toyonaga as André Grandier, with Kazuki Kato portraying Hans Axel von Fersen. Other cast members include Shunsuke Takeuchi, Takuya Eguchi, Miyu Irino, Fukushi Ochiai, Banjo Ginga, and Mayumi Tanaka.
Adapted from the legendary shojo manga, The Rose of Versailles is available in English through UDON Entertainment’s omnibus editions. The creators have shared the following description of the film:
"Oscar François de Jarjayes, raised as the “son” and heir of a general’s family, masquerades as a beautiful woman in men’s clothing. Marie Antoinette arriving from neighboring Austria as a bride to become a noble and graceful queen.. Oscar’s servant and childhood friend, the commoner André Grandier.
