After years of anticipation, Digital Extremes is finally taking players beyond the familiar confines of the Origin System and into Tau, a mysterious binary star system that has been woven into Warframe's lore since the days of the Old War.
This isn't just another planet or mission node; it's an entirely new frontier that promises to expand the game's universe in ways fans have dreamed about for years.
The first destination in Tau is Fornax, a sprawling Sentient ring-city that has fallen far from its former glory. Once envisioned as a paradise, the city is now consumed by crime, corruption, addiction, and the haunting effects of the mysterious black rain. Tenno will face an all-new faction of evolved Sentient enemies while navigating dangerous streets, uncovering dark secrets, and confronting the ruthless crime boss known as The Hunra.
Tau also introduces a brand-new Star Chart separate from the Origin System, allowing players to travel between both regions as Warframe's cinematic story continues to evolve. Alongside new enemies and environments, players can look forward to fresh gameplay mechanics, new weapons, endgame challenges, and the debut of Brysko, a unique Chimera Warframe who brings a fresh perspective to Warframe's storytelling. Digital Extremes has also confirmed that Tau is only the beginning, with additional worlds and content planned beyond its initial release.
For veteran Tenno, Tau represents the payoff to years of worldbuilding. For new players, it's shaping up to be one of Warframe's most ambitious expansions yet, a bold step into the unknown where every mission could uncover another piece of the game's ever-growing universe.
The Origin System has been your home for years.
Now it's time to leave it behind.
