Released last night, the official site for the previously announced upcoming next big story and content drop for Final Fantasy XIV Online showed up bearing brand new artwork of Golbez and his Shadow Dragon.
Golbez, traditionally a mage, is seen with a large sword in the artwork- however it is the Shadow Dragon gripping the enormous blade if you look closely enough. Could this be a hint toward the mechanics of the upcoming Golbez boss trial, The Voidcast Dais? Imagine the Shadow Dragon weaving in and out, whipping around with slicing cuts as Golbez casts his elemental and gravity magic, set to a Masayoshi Soken remixed version of Golbez's iconic theme. Hype is certainly setting in.
FFXIV's Version 6.4 patch is set to come in late May, bringing a big batch of activities, new items, and the next highly anticipated story chapter. The Dark Throne marks the second to last patch in the FFXIV: Endwalker expansion, and should last players 4-5 months or so (we hope) until the Endwalker finale patch.
FFXIV Fan Festivals are scheduled to run through this summer to early next year, alongside developer live streams or Producer Live Letters, we'll see plenty of reveals about future patches and the coming expansion that is expected in 2024.
