Akira Toriyama, renowned creator of Dragon Ball and designer for games like Chrono Trigger, passed away at 68. He is remembered for his infamous works, such as the Dragon Ball franchise, his work with the Dragon Quest franchise, including some lesser known but quality work such as Blue Dragon and much more.
Toriyama passed away due to Acute Subdural Hematoma on March 1st, the news was announced yesterday and has exploded across the world via the web over the past 24 hours.
Bird Studio, and Capsule Corporation Japan as well as Bandai Namco will most likely finish current works in development and Shueisha will most likely push to continue the franchise. Toriyama's son was also working closely with Akira Toriyama, who wanted his son to learn his ways and know what he intended for the franchise. I read an article a while back about Toriyama doing this so his son could carry Dragon Ball on if Toriyama were to pass away, so I doubt even with Toriyama's passing, that we wont see more Dragon Ball.
But there's also Dragon Quest which he did an insane amount of work for, so I'm hoping Dragon Quest doesn't drastically change art styles, and I'm not sure how his passing will effect development of DQXII artistically.
I'm sad also because Toriyama, Sakaguchi (Father of FF), and Yuji Hori (DQ) met up recently to talk about making a new game. Their past games were pretty legendary, such as Chrono Trigger, and the heavily underrated Blue Dragon.
Also, Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO or as I and many are calling it, DBZ Tenkaichi 4, is coming out and should be the biggest tribute.

Tenkaichi 4 was recently announced, we don't have a release date yet but there's a couple trailers out there. It looks to be the most ambitious Tenkaichi game yet with possibly hundreds of characters and current gen graphics.
I'm super excited for it, since Tenkaichi games were a huge part of my life in high school years.
