Today I pause together with those reading here, and wrote this post to honor and remember our dear friend Jack, known to many of us as Suvi Serafiina of Azure Infinitum.
On April 21st, 2026, Jack passed on, leaving behind a legacy that reaches far beyond the worlds we shared together in Final Fantasy XIV Online. For those of us who had the privilege of knowing him, whether in-game or beyond, his presence was something I always saw as steady, kind, and deeply genuine. Suvi herself as a denizen of Eorzea, was more than a character on our roster. Suvi was a reflection of a man whose heart and strength quietly touched so other's lives.
Jack was, by every measure, one of the most selfless people you could ever hope to meet. For 14 years, he devoted himself fully to his family, caring for his wife, helping raise her son as his own, and standing every day as a strong protector and provider. He was the kind of man who showed up without hesitation, who gave without asking, and who carried the weight of others so they would not have to carry it alone. Even in the face of hardship, he remained that same unwavering presence. Reliable, humble, and strong in ways that truly mattered.
His battle came suddenly and without warning. A cancer diagnosis changed everything in an instant, turning an ordinary life into a fight for survival. What followed was a rapid and difficult journey through emergency surgery and escalating challenges. Though Jack ultimately lost that battle, he did not face it alone or without courage. He was surrounded by the love of those closest to him, just as he had spent his life surrounding others with his own care and strength. That love, and the life he lived, are what remain with us now.
Within Azure Infinitum, Suvi Serafiina will always be remembered as a warm and uplifting presence. Suvi was someone who brought positivity into every space he entered. Always supportive, engaged, and happy to stand alongside his fellow members. I personally remember the many conversations we shared, especially during the early days after he joined us. We bonded over Mass Effect, particularly Andromeda's release, and despite its reception, Jack’s ability to find joy and meaning in it spoke volumes to me about who he was. Those conversations from 2017 still remain vivid to me today, a testament to how much they, like other moments shared with him, meant.
Over the years, as Azure grew and evolved, Suvi remained a constant thread woven into our story, since the latter days of the Heavensward expansion. Through milestones, events, and the many chapters of both FFXIV and our community, he was there, encouraging, listening, and sharing in the journey. As a Legacy Member in Azure, he stood as part of the foundation that helped shape who we are today. His bond with Scout Shimeray, and the care they shared for his home in the Lavender Beds, is just one of many small but meaningful pieces of the life he built with us, memories that will never fade.
As is our tradition within Azure Infinitum, we honor those we have lost by ensuring they are never forgotten. Suvi Serafiina will always have a place on our roster, now forever held within our “In Memory” rank. His character's name will remain with us through the passing years, through every new chapter, and through the continued life of our community. In this way, he continues to stand among us, just as he always did.
Jack, thank you. Thank you for your kindness, your strength, your friendship, and the time you shared with us. You were a light within Azure Infinitum, and a truly good man in every sense of the word. You will be deeply missed, and always remembered.
