This week First Arlines in Tokyo took 12 passengers on a VR flight simulation mimicking a flight from Tokyo to Paris.
Just after relaxing in business and first class seats and eating four-course dinners served to them, the 12 'passengers' took a dive into a 360 degree VR display to see the City of Lights in a full VR tour.
The trip costs 6,600 yen or $62.43 USD, which is massively cheaper than most flights that take place in reality.
Since First Airlines opened in 2016 the company has been fully booked, their 2-hour virtual 'flights' to Rome, Hawaii, Paris, and New York proving popular.
Takashi Sakano, 39, says: "A real trip is a hassle to prepare for, and expensive, and takes time. So I think it is good that we can enjoy all this hassle-free," commented after his first VR trip, to which after he mentioned he'd like to go to Rome next.
First Airlines have explained that elderly customers make up a lot of their customers and are older Japanese living from around the country citing, "We have lots of elderly customers, who want to go overseas but are not able to easily, given their physical limitations."
Its also said that domestic flights around Japan will be added soon, with meals highlighting the region's cuisine.

I see this more as a potential innovative restaurant idea than a VR tour with food, because hey, what a way to mix up the usual idea of going out to eat eh?
