Studio Ghibli continues proving its timeless appeal as classic films like Kiki’s Delivery Service and Princess Mononoke receive new IMAX and theatrical rereleases around the world. These movies look really appealing on the big screen, where its very easy to appreciate them in all their splendor and artistic style.
Meanwhile, reports also confirmed a brand-new Ghibli short film is arriving later this year, marking the studio’s first new animated release since The Boy and the Heron.
What’s especially fascinating is how younger audiences are discovering Ghibli through theatrical events rather than streaming alone. Its clear to see young viewers are taking well to the animated classics and newer Ghibli releases alike.
The massive turnout for these rereleases demonstrates that anime classics are increasingly being treated with the same prestige as legendary Hollywood films.
For many fans, seeing Ghibli films in IMAX has become a full cultural event rather than simply a movie screening. Being a longtime fan of seeing films in IMAX I can certainly relate!
